100% sheep’s wool – Why?
- Very good hygroscopic properties – sheep’s wool can absorb up to 35 % of its weight in moisture, synthetic fibers less than 3 %. At the same time, it is water-repellent on the surface (hydrophobic).
- Desorption properties – the absorbed moisture leaves the fibers very easily by regulating the sleeping temperature
- Insulation properties – thanks to special finishing and unique fiber structure, a lot of air collects in the wool pile, which makes it a perfect insulation material against both high and low temperatures.
- The wool creates a special warmth that can increase the well-being of our animals, reduce muscle tension and thus also improve the elasticity of the collagen connective tissue.
The basic building block of sheep’s wool is the insoluble protein keratin (which also makes up our nails). It is resistant to microbial degradation.
It is extremely elastic and stable: the spiral-shaped fiber can be folded up to 20,000 times without breaking, other fibers only 1800 times, viscose fibers only 75 times, until they break. Due to its brittleness, it always returns to its original shape.
