Mud fever in horses begins as reddening of the skin (dermatitis erythematosa) and, depending on its progression, can develop into weeping eczema (dermatitis madidans) or dry mud fever with severe crusting (dermatitis crustosa). This condition, which is unpleasant for horses and becomes very painful as it progresses, is a bacterial skin inflammation.
At FEELE, we offer various products for your horse to support recovery from mud fever and soothe the skin. Our “Fesselglück” regeneration paste and “Zauberlehrling” hoof care products are also ideal for preventive care of your horse’s hooves.
In the following, we will first discuss the causes of mud fever in horses and explain how care can be provided. You will learn more about the products in our range and how you can protect your horse from this disease through good husbandry, care, and attention to certain circumstances.
